US_SuperHighAlpha Super High Alpha (US)

The current Super High Alpha varieties, which include the names Columbus, Tomahawk® and Zeus have the same female parent as Nugget, making them at least half-sisters to Nugget. These varieties have mature yields of 2500-2900 lbs/acre, and alpha acids content of 14.5-16.5%. The storage stability of their alpha acids is the poorest of all commercial high alpha varieties. Due to their downy mildew sensitivity, commercial plantings are primarily found in growing areas where this disease is not a problem.
